Everyone loves long, healthy and beautiful hair. Nothing complements a person’s appearance more than hairs. But sometimes you don’t care well and because of it, your hair gets dry and damaged. Unfortunately, hair loss is a problem that many people suffer from. There can be several factors behind hair loss, such as too much stress, hormonal imbalance, environmental factors, aging, nutritional deficiencies, genetic factors, thyroid, etc. Normally most people lose anywhere from 50 to 100 strands of hair each day. But when you start losing more than that, it’s time for you to take some action so it doesn’t progress to baldness or bald spots.

There are few things which are good for your hair and help you turn your dry and damaged hair into healthy and beautiful hair. Let your hair do all the talking by using some readily available home ingredients.

1. Hair Oil Massage
The first thing you can do to reduce hair loss is to massage your scalp with appropriate hair oil. A warm oil massage conditions the scalp, helping to prevent flakes and dry, itchy scalp. It helps enhance blood circulation in the head and neck area. It will also promote relaxation and reduce stress. You can use hair oils like coconut oil, argon oil, almond oil, olive oil, castor oil, etc. Add a few drops of essential oil (rosemary, lavender, peppermint, lemongrass, clary sage, etc) to the base oil for better and faster results.

2. Onion Juice
Onions contain dietary sulfur which is one of the most common minerals in the body. When added to the hair and scalp, onion juice can provide extra sulfur to support strong and thick hair, thus preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth. Applying onion juice to the hair and scalp could increase blood supply to hair follicles, which in turn improves hair growth. Extract the juice of one onion by grating it and then strain it. Apply the juice directly onto the scalp. Leave it on for about 40 minutes, and then wash it off. Then wash your hairs with shampoo. Repeat this process for two or three times a week for better results.

3. Fenugreek
Fenugreek seeds have high protein, which are known to be beneficial against hair fall and dandruff, and in treating a variety of scalp issues like dryness of hair, baldness and hair thinning. The seeds also help in moisturizing the hair and bringing back the luster and bounce. Fenugreek seeds not only kill the bacteria and fungi present on the scalp but strengthen the hair follicles and promote hair growth. In a cup filled with 5 tablespoons of yogurt, soak 3 tablespoons of Fenugreek seeds overnight. In the morning, blend them to form a thick paste. Apply this paste all over the roots and massage it in well. Leave it in the hair for an hour, then wash with warm water. While the good bacteria in yogurt reduces scalp infection, Fenugreek increases the hair growth from the follicle.

4. Licorice Root
The Licorice Root can fight off baldness and improve the hair health. It is also one of the highly recommended treatments for hair loss. The pores of the scalp open up due to its mollifying properties and reduce irritation and redness resulting in hair growth. By washing your hair with licorice root powder, it helps to grow hair faster. Take one tablespoon of Licorice root powder and mix it in 1 cup of milk with a quarter teaspoon of saffron. Apply this paste on bald patches at bedtime and leave it on overnight. Then wash your hair in the morning.

5. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera contains something called proteolytic enzymes which repairs dead skin cells on the scalp. It also acts as a great conditioner and leaves your hair all smooth and shiny. It promotes hair growth, prevents itching on the scalp, reduces dandruff and conditions your hair. Take an aloe vera leaf and extract the gel from it in a bowl. (Some like to blend it with coconut or olive oil) Rub the gel or mixture directly onto the scalp and let it sit for an hour. Then use a mild shampoo to wash the hair and scalp. Repeat this process 2-3 times a week, as needed.

6. Coconut Milk
Coconut milk contains all the essential nutrients required for healthy hair, boosting your hair follicles and promoting the hair growth. High in healthy fatty acids, proteins and vitamin E, coconut milk has excellent moisturizing and repairing properties. It fights against the hair loss and restores luster to dull, damaged hair. Apply the coconut milk thoroughly onto your scalp and hair from roots to tip. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then shampoo your hair. You can add powdered fenugreek seeds to the coconut milk before using it to make it more effective.
